Dear Fraters:
A new corporation (ZOCC
Scholarship Foundation) has been formed so that scholarships can
be awarded to descendants of ZO TKE’s that attend any
college/university.
The 1st
scholarship to be awarded will be in memory of Bob Parr. Bob
loved TKE and he kept us out of a lot of trouble over the years
and we prospered while he was the fraternity advisor. He ran
interference with WCU’s administration for us and kept us
informed about what we could and could not do.
The scholarship
committee consists of the following members:
Jonathan Fender –
President
Bob Edwards – VP
Lonnie Harris –
Treasurer
Paul Marion –
Secretary
Norman Bledsoe –
Managing Director
This committee currently
works with WCU to administer 2 scholarships (Doug Shirley
Scholarship and ZO TKE Endowed Scholarship). The ZO TKE Endowed
Scholarship honors the memory of deceased members of TKE. The
fund balance for these 2 scholarships is $130,370. $5,000 in
scholarships has been awarded each of the last 2 years to
students that attend WCU. It is amazing to think that we
actually raised this much money and that we are now able to give
something back to the world. Thank you to the people that
contributed to these scholarships over the years.
The Bob Parr Scholarship
will be 100% managed by the scholarship committee and members of
ZOCC. The ZOCC Scholarship Foundation has been setup with the
IRS so that all contributions will tax deductible. We are now
ready to receive contributions to this new scholarship fund.
Please remit contributions payable to ZOCC Scholarship
Foundation as follows:
Lonnie Harris
393 Bryson Heights Road
Waynesville, NC 28786
Any contribution (large
or small will be welcomed). Thank you in advance for your
contributions.
