| Dear
Frater Rick, It pleases me to hear about your passion and interest in bringing TKE back to WCU. I appreciate your note bringing me into the loop as your re-colonization efforts develop. I encourage you to keep in contact with your regional director from TKE HQ. I understand that Adam Ferris is leaving staff and you'll be getting a new lead staffer. He'll be your best supporter during this potentially long process. The new staffing model also has two assistant regional directors to work with you as well. The way I see it, you have two simultaneous paths. I would prepare for the school presentation while also trying to recruit potential new members on campus. The first path takes the traditional route of getting school/IFC approval to re-colonize on campus at a set future date. The second path creates an interest group of students already on campus to petition the school/IFC for approval. The latter option generally results in a new chapter on a shorter timeline because the students are already activated. Without a contact already on campus, it becomes difficult to generate this interest group. I'd start by checking your alumni contacts for any relatives or neighbors that may be on campus now. You could also start up a generic TKE WCU interest group Facebook page to see if anyone surfs through with interest. If you have connections with any of the professors on campus, you could ask them for recommendations amongst their top students, etc. You may be able to get a staff member to assist with your presentation. I would seek out either your RD or one of your ARDs. It may be difficult for them to commit in advance until you get a target presentation date. I know their travel schedules get busy at certain times during the year. I'd continue to inquire about their assistance along with any potential dates they may be in the area. Getting a full staff team to assist with a cold start (no currently interested students yet) will be difficult, but it depends on their availability and the prospect of success on campus. One of the hardest aspects of re-colonizing is generating a supportive alumni base to serve as their Board of Advisors and Chapter Advisor. It appears that you already have this support lined up. I would continue to push this as a positive in your communications with the school and TKE HQ. Once I know who the new RD is for the south, I'll inquire on your behalf as well. Feel free to continue to ask me questions if you have them. I'll answer directly or find someone that can better address them. YITB, Chris Christopher T.
