TKE-ZO SCHOLARSHIP UPDATE |
|
July 15, 2009: Ben
Lupton has been awarded the ZOCC Scholarship award for the upcoming
school year beginning this Fall in the amount of $3,000.00.
Ben is the son of Bill Lupton, scroll # 400 from Clyde, NC. He
is a music education major with a smooth 3.47 gpa. Not bad for
someone related to a TKE. He is also very active in the community
around his home & in Cullowhee in working with youth on music and
entertaining at different locations. He is most deserving from a
credentials and a need stand point.
We have also awarded a
$1,000.00 athletic scholarship to be administered by Chip Smith, the AD
at WCU based on the criteria of the existing funds to be used to help
athletes that are in need of more financial assistance. At
present, this is a one time award and something we would like to look
into doing on a regular to help get some wins on the Cats slate.
We are also in the
process of setting up a ZOCC Scholarship Foundation that will be 501c3
fund. From a tax standpoint, this means that donations made to the
fund are fully deductible. The purpose of this is to
establish funds that can be used at institutions other than WCU.
They will be administered in house rather than sending the money to WCU
to handle. We will have more information to you as we progress
with the establishment of this new program. When this is
completed, everyone that has children or grandchildren can be
eligible to receive rewards regardless of which college they attend.
